York University’s Gathering Project
At the beginning of York’s school year, the theatre performance students come together to create a short series of theatre pieces from their own design. A facilitator will lead and direct these students through the first two weeks of classes. Helping to create community across the program and enhance creative skills.
My goals in leading the Gathering project (for the past two years) have been to encourage confidence and free thought in students, find new ways to tell stories aside from the written word, and develop my own teaching practice that’s rooted in community and self-led artistic prowess.
